Stillwaters Bereavement Services

There is a growing awareness among those who care for the bereaved that individual counseling, support groups and one on one peer support are an appropriate and effective way to help bereaved people heal. Because they offer a safe place for people to do the work of mourning, these services encourage people to reconcile their losses and go on to find continued meaning in life and living.

Secrets of the Masculine Side of Healing

As a member of the Southeast Wisconsin Grief Network and the Waukesha County Grief Network, Stillwaters invites you to a free community presentation with Tom Golden, LCSW and author of: "Swallowed by a Snake: The gift of the Masculine Side of Healing."

Wednesday, September 29  6:30 - 9:00 p.m.

Knights of Columbus Hall, 1800 S. 92nd St., West Allis, WI

(between Greenfield & National)

Free to the general public, pre-registration is preferred,

please call Stillwaters at 262-524-4140 to sign-up.

This presentation is for both men and women.

The masculine side of healing is often overlooked and/or misunderstood.  This presentation will offer women a glimpse into their own usage of the masculine side of healing, as well as bring an understanding about the men and boys in their lives, how they grieve, and how best to get close to them when they do.  The men will learn about the path toward healing they likely already use regularly but have never named.

Hope, Healing & Growth

An adult grief support group for those who have lost a loved one to cancer. This grief support group is designed to help participants: utilize group support to share and encourage growth, effectively express and experience the grief journey, embrace the pain of loss while learning physical, emotional and spiritual growth, convert the relationship with the person who died from one of interactive presence to one of appropriate memory, and relate the death of a loved one into one of new meaning in the life of the bereaved.

Counseling

Stillwaters offers individual consultations with a trained professional in the area of grief, bereavement and mourning. No one can anticipate the emotional and spiritual upheaval a major loss brings. Individual counseling can help by giving the bereaved a safe place to express their feelings of grief while learning some new skills to help cope with and reconcile the loss and it's impact.

Mentor Match

One very important thing someone can do when going through the grief process is find emotional support. Support can come from many different sources; family and friends, support groups, individual counseling, but one of the most natural sources is talking with another. The Mentor Match program at Stillwaters emphasizes the importance of peer support. The program provides emotional support to those grieving the death of a loved one to cancer. Volunteers who have experienced their own loss provide support to the newly bereaved by telephone contacts or in-person visits, sharing their own personal experiences with grief and offering one on one emotional support.
