One very
important thing someone can do when going through a cancer
experience is finding emotional support. Support can come from
many different sources. Religious beliefs and values. Family and
friends. Reading or journaling. But one of the most natural
sources is talking with another cancer survivor.

The
Mentor Match program at Stillwaters Center emphasizes
the value of peer support. The program provides emotional
support and information to cancer patients and their loved ones.
Volunteers who have experienced a cancer diagnosis provide
support and information to those who have recently been
diagnosed, are actively receiving treatment, or have had a
recurrence. Mentors have conversations with cancer patients and
their loved ones by telephone contacts or in-person visits,
sharing their personal experiences and offering emotional
support to assist patients in making informed choices.
The Mentor Match program is about people
helping people. If you would like to be contacted by a mentor,
or would like to volunteer as a mentor, please call (262)
